I've been trying to wean Sasha for few months now...I wanted to do it gradually but It wasn't working for me or her. She would not eat any food or drink milk in her cup all through the day. but she wanted me to feed her all night long. She was sleeping two hours the most and I was exhausted. On Sunday I couldn't take it anymore so I decided to do it " cold turkey ". It is so sad to see her cry nonstop but She needs this change and I need this change.
Today it's Thursday and I can start seeing the results. She slept all night long....first time in 15 months that I had a good night sleep. Yeahhhh!! I am so excited. Sasha started eating more solids...I have to be feeding her all day long. She eats like a bird takes 4 to 5 bites and that is it. So every 30 minutes I am trying new foods.
There are always buts....She stopped drinking milk. She would not take milk in a bottle or cup. She is a little grumpy all thru the day.
So today I am researching Toddler's nutrition and this is what I found:
1 to 3 years get about 40 calories per inch of height a day.
Translation: Your 32-inch-tall toddler ideally should eat about 1,300 calories a day for normal growth and weight gain.

16 ounces (2 cups) of milk (or yogurt, cheese or other calcium rich foods)

4 servings of fruits and vegetables. (Serving size: one tablespoon per year of age.) One serving should be high in vitamin C and another in vitamin A.

4 servings of grains - bread and cereal. One should be an iron-fortified baby cereal. A serving is about 1/4 to 1/3 an adult portion (1/4 slice toast, 1/4 cup pasta)

2 servings of proteins - meat, beans, eggs, tofu, or peanut butter. A good serving of protein should be served at every meal. One serving equals 1/2 ounce.
I hope this helps if you are going through the same situation!
